My Country

By Kirrencia Dilbert

I am from Honduras, Roatan,

from where you hear the sounds of birds in the morning,

from an island where reggaeton and bachata play,

from a beautiful place where you can see amazing and different cultures and clothing,

from where they play their drums and gather around in a circle and start dancing.

I am from

a place where they help old people and all of the children,

from a place where a man respects a woman,

from a place where all the people are hardworking.

I am from

a place where we share everything with people who don’t have the same like us,

from a place that doesn’t discriminate against anybody,

From a place that doesn’t care what you have, you are the same like everybody.

I am from a place where the baliadas, pollo chuco, tapado, machuca taste delicious,

From where horses march, cows chase you, snakes swim underwater, and frogs make a lot of noise from the bushes.

I am from

beautiful beaches and fields,

From soccer, basketball, celebrations like the 15th of September, our independence day,

From a very pretty place where everyone should go and visit one day.

I am from Honduras.

This is my country and I am proud of it.
