Joy After Trauma

by Ava Stanza

A dark, lonely place

A  heart discouraged

With no hope

An empty hand, no one to hold

The dark

To light

As I pick up pieces

From my heart discouraged

Click of a switch

The room

Lights up

Darkness fades

I see the gleam

Hope to bond

My torn heart

Standing in

A shadow of grief

Scared to come from gloom

A worthwhile hand

Reaches out

Enchanting me into

The glare

I’m Free
